Schaeffler Acquires Independent Manufacturer of Maximum Clutch Friction Plates

Recently, Herzogenaurach - approved by the Antitrust Commission, the Schaeffler Group completed the clutch friction plate manufacturer Raybestos on February 29, 2008 Acquisition.

(Raybestos FrictionProd-uctsLtd). The two companies are affiliated with American Ray-tech Corporation and employ approximately 550 people worldwide. In fiscal 2007, they had sales of approximately 50 million Euros. The acquisition involves the management of all employees, including managing director Alfred Klee.

The background of this acquisition is that LuK has carried out a series of pioneering activities in this field, such as dry double clutch and traditional automatic transmission, due to the increase of engine power and the rapid growth of friction material demand due to the dry double clutch transmission system.
