On Sunday morning, Karl Klotz captured a working fire in Chicago at 1802 N. Sheffield. He shared several photos along with a detailed account of the incident:
"Chicago working fire at 1802 N. Sheffield. A fire broke out on the second floor of a two-story apartment building that sits above commercial spaces. Tower Ladder 10 responded and made a rescue from the second floor using their main ladder."
The images show the scene as it unfolded. The first photo captures Engine Co. 55 and Truck Co. 44 arriving on the scene. Another shot shows Engine 55 deploying a 2½-inch hose line. Truck Co. 44 is seen extending a ladder to the roof and setting up a ground ladder. Members of Engine Co. 22 are also seen laying a second line. Tower Ladder 10 is seen positioning itself to assist with the fire.
As the flames became visible from the second-floor windows, firefighters worked quickly to control the situation. Tower Ladder 10 was instrumental in rescuing an occupant from the second floor, helping them down safely. Another image shows a resident being assisted by firefighters to the ground.
Karl has more photos available in a gallery, offering a comprehensive look at the incident. These images provide a real-time view of the efforts made by the Chicago Fire Department during the response.
