Bender Inc. celebrates 40 years of innovative electrical safety solutions>
Bender Inc. is celebrating 40 years of innovation and growth since the establishment of its first North American subsidiary in Pennsylvania in 1983. This marked a strategic move by Bender GmbH, the German parent company, to meet the rising demand for electrical safety equipment across the continent. The creation of Bender Inc., based in Exton, PA, was a clear statement that the company aimed to be a global leader in electrical safety solutions.
Starting with just four employees, the company initially focused on healthcare applications. However, it quickly expanded into other sectors such as mining, maritime, and power generation. Over the decades, Bender has built a reputation for delivering cutting-edge electrical safety systems that proactively detect risks, prevent failures, and ensure continuous operation.
The U.S. market has always been a key area for Bender, and this remains true today. With the rise of electric vehicles and green energy, there are new opportunities for Bender’s technology, especially in charging infrastructure and EV manufacturing. The company continues to adapt and grow, driven by a deep understanding of evolving industry needs.
Throughout its history, Bender Inc. has achieved major milestones through product innovation and smart acquisitions. In 1987, after losing a major client, the company launched Bender Medical Products, employing former ISOTROL staff. A decade later, Bender acquired ISOTROL and Isolation Systems Products, strengthening its position in the market.
In 1993, Bender introduced the EDS series, a groundbreaking ground-fault location system for unearthed systems. By 2003, the company had developed monitoring systems for grounded power networks, further solidifying its leadership in electrical safety.
Beyond traditional markets, Bender also ventured into the entertainment industry in 2004 with Bender Entertainment Systems, providing GFCIs to film productions. In 2009, the introduction of the ISOMETER® line for electric vehicles, followed by the iso-F1 for Formula 1 KERS systems, highlighted Bender’s forward-thinking approach.
Today, Bender Inc. operates from its headquarters in Exton, supported by a strong network of regional representatives and distributors across the U.S. The company’s success is rooted in its commitment to excellence, customer focus, and a legacy of innovation that dates back to 1939, when Walther Bender created the first insulation monitoring device for mine safety.
With over 1,200 employees worldwide, including more than 500 internationally and 15% dedicated to R&D, Bender continues to drive growth and set industry standards. Annual sales reach $220 million, with operations in 14 countries and representation in over 70.
As a family-owned business managed by the third generation, Bender GmbH remains at the heart of its global strategy. Bender Inc. is proud to carry forward its mission: to lead the way in designing the future of energy. With 40 years of experience and a vision for the next 40, the company is ready to shape the future of electrical safety and power systems around the world.
