Bender Inc. celebrates 40 years of innovative electrical safety solutions

Bender Inc. is celebrating 40 years of innovation and growth since its first subsidiary, established by the German parent company Bender GmbH, opened in Pennsylvania in 1983. This move was driven by a growing demand for electrical safety equipment across North America, marking the beginning of Bender's global expansion. With the creation of Bender Inc. in Exton, PA, the company signaled its commitment to becoming a leader in electrical safety solutions. Starting with just four employees, the focus was initially on healthcare, but it quickly expanded into other critical sectors such as mining, shipping, and power generation. Over the years, Bender has built a reputation for developing advanced technologies that detect risks before they occur, ensuring both human and machine safety while minimizing downtime through proactive maintenance. The U.S. market has always been a key priority for Bender, and today, it remains a vital hub for new applications—especially in the electric vehicle (EV) industry. As EV charging infrastructure grows and the demand for electric vehicles increases, Bender is well-positioned to provide essential safety solutions for this emerging sector. Throughout its 40-year journey, Bender Inc. has achieved numerous milestones, including strategic acquisitions and product innovations. In 1987, after losing a major client, Bender launched Bender Medical Products to continue manufacturing isolated power panels. A decade later, in 1995, the company acquired ISOTROL and Isolation Systems Products, expanding its reach and capabilities. In 1993, Bender introduced the EDS series, revolutionizing fault detection in unearthed systems. By 2003, the company had developed monitoring systems for grounded power networks, further solidifying its leadership in electrical safety. Bender also ventured into unexpected markets, such as the entertainment industry, where it provided GFCIs for film production crews. In 2009, the introduction of the ISOMETER® line for electric vehicles and the iso-F1 system for Formula 1 KERS marked a significant step into the future of energy. Today, Bender Inc. operates from its headquarters in Exton, supported by a nationwide network of representatives and distributors. With over 1,200 employees worldwide and a strong R&D team, the company continues to drive innovation and maintain a leading position in electrical safety. Rooted in the vision of Walther Bender, who created the first insulation monitoring device in 1939, Bender remains committed to protecting people and machines from electrical hazards. As a family-owned business now in its third generation, Bender GmbH continues to support global markets from its headquarters in Germany. Bender Inc. has 40 years of success behind it, and with a focus on innovation, customer service, and safety, it is ready for many more decades of growth. The company’s mission is clear: to lead the way in designing the future of energy.
