Production capacity goes one step further, Osram Kunshan's second factory is officially put into operation
As global demand for innovative lighting products continues to expand, OSRAM's second plant is officially put into operation today to further expand its capacity in the region. The new facility will employ approximately 500 employees in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, to produce lighting products for the automotive and display sectors. Wu Shengbo, President and CEO of OSRAM Asia Pacific, said that the operation of the new plant will not only meet the strong demand for innovative lighting technology in the Chinese market, but will further enhance our influence in the world's largest single lighting market. According to the bulletin issued by the National Bureau of Statistics of China, as of the end of 2014, the number of Chinese civilian vehicles reached 154 million, an increase of 12.4%. Such a huge automotive market will bring huge development opportunities to the automotive parts market. OSRAM established its first factory in Kunshan in 2005 to develop and produce projection lighting components. The new plant will not only be close to the original plant, but will also receive support from OSRAM Wuxi LED Packaging Factory. The plant plays an important role in OSRAM's global manufacturing layout and will continue to provide innovative lighting products to the region's markets to meet growing customer demand.
