Longwan valve characteristic industrial base passed argument
After earning the title of "China Valve City," the Zhejiang Longwan Valve Provincial High-tech Industrial Base has successfully passed the expert review organized by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology. The expert panel highly recognized the unique characteristics and solid foundation of Longwan’s valve industry, emphasizing its strong competitive advantages. The establishment of this industrial base is seen as a crucial step in further consolidating valve manufacturing enterprises, promoting specialization, collaboration, and efficient resource allocation, ultimately enhancing the core competitiveness of the local valve industry.
It is known that the Longwan valve industry began in the 1970s. Today, it is home to over 1,400 valve manufacturing companies, forming a distinctive industry focused on pipeline valves, high-temperature power station valves, and electro-hydraulic linkage quick-closing valves. Among them, one company achieves an annual output value exceeding one billion yuan, with six others surpassing 100 million yuan annually. According to statistics, Longwan produces 200,000 tons of stainless steel valves each year, accounting for more than 40% of the national total. In 2007, the industry generated a total industrial output of 10.3 billion yuan, representing over 25% of the national valve market. Longwan's products not only dominate the domestic market but are also exported to nearly 60 countries across Southeast Asia, North and South America, the Middle East, and Western Europe.
In addition to its expanding scale, Longwan valve companies have made continuous efforts in technological innovation. The industry now includes 31 high-tech enterprises, with four at the national level and 11 at the provincial level. Six provincial-level R&D centers have been established, and in 2006 and 2007, the local valve industry participated in a total of one SME Innovation Fund project, 13 National Torch Programs, and two national key new product projects. Additionally, there are four major electromechanical equipment specialties in Zhejiang Province, along with 368 various types of patents. These achievements reflect the region's strong technical development capabilities and robust innovation potential, positioning Longwan as a leading force in China’s valve industry.
