Longwan valve characteristic industrial base passed argument

After earning the title of "China Valve City," the Zhejiang Longwan Valve Provincial High-Tech Industrial Base has successfully passed the expert review organized by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology. The expert panel highly recognized the strong foundation and development potential of the Longwan valve industry, highlighting its unique characteristics and competitive advantages. The establishment of this industrial base is seen as a crucial step in consolidating the concentration of valve manufacturers, promoting specialization and collaboration, and optimizing resource allocation to enhance the overall competitiveness of the Longwan valve sector. It is reported that the Longwan valve industry dates back to the 1970s. Today, the region is home to over 1,400 valve manufacturing companies, forming a robust industry that specializes in various types of pipeline valves, high-temperature power station valves, and electro-hydraulic linkage quick-closing valves. Among them, one company achieves an annual output value exceeding 1 billion yuan, while six others surpass 100 million yuan annually. According to official data, Longwan produces 200,000 tons of stainless steel valves each year, accounting for more than 40% of the national total. In 2007 alone, the industry generated a total industrial output value of 10.3 billion yuan, representing over 25% of the national valve market. Its products are not only widely used domestically but have also expanded into international markets, exported to nearly 60 countries across Southeast Asia, North and South America, the Middle East, and Western Europe. Beyond its growing scale, Longwan valve companies have consistently focused on technological innovation. Currently, the industry includes 31 high-tech enterprises, with four at the national level and eleven at the provincial level. Six provincial-level R&D centers have been established, and in 2006 and 2007, the local valve industry participated in a total of one SME Innovation Fund project, thirteen National Torch Programs, and two national key new product projects. Additionally, the region has developed four major electromechanical equipment specialties and holds 368 different types of patents. These achievements reflect the strong technical capabilities and innovation power of the Longwan valve industry, positioning it as a leading force in China's valve manufacturing sector.
