Although 2020 was a challenging year for many, at Flyability we stayed incredibly active and made significant progress. We faced the year with determination, adapting to new circumstances while continuing to innovate and support our growing community. Before diving into what we achieved in 2020, we want to take a moment to thank all of our clients, partners, prospects, and supporters around the world. Wishing you all a safe, successful, and inspiring 2021! The year began with an exciting milestone—our first U.S. office opened in Denver, Colorado. This move allowed us to better serve our expanding customer base across America. As the year came to a close, we were thrilled to announce the successful completion of our Series C funding round, raising an additional 7 million Euros (around $8.6 million USD). The funds will be used to further advance our indoor drone technology and software solutions, helping more industries benefit from safer and more efficient inspections. Toward the end of 2020, we launched Inspector 3.0—a major update to our inspection software. This version introduces data localization, allowing users to map defects directly onto a 3D model created after an inspection flight. Instead of estimating the location of issues based on scattered data points, inspectors can now pinpoint exact locations on a sparse point cloud. This makes it easier for maintenance teams to locate and address problems efficiently. Watch this video to learn more about Inspector 3.0: Want to try out Inspector 3.0? With in-person events canceled, we shifted our User Conference talks online and continued hosting webinars throughout the year. In total, we held 21 webinars, attracting over 21,000 registrants and nearly 4,000 attendees. Some of the most popular topics included: All webinar recordings are available for viewing anytime. Check out the full list here. Throughout 2020, we shared several case studies showing how our drones are making inspections safer and more cost-effective. Here are two standout examples: The TVA used the Elios 2 to inspect a scrubber at one of its power plants, reducing inspection time by 98% and saving 470 hours of work. Read the case study to see how this was achieved. Marine Inspection Services used the Elios 2 to inspect an oil tanker’s cargo tanks, resulting in $2 million in savings. Read the case study to discover how. Explore all of our case studies here. We also supported groundbreaking research and exploration projects in 2020. Two of our most notable missions were: This mission helped researchers study ice caves in Greenland to better understand climate change. Read more here. This mission provided critical visual data inside Reactor Five at Chernobyl, where no one had been since the 1986 disaster. Learn more here. In 2020, we expanded our educational content with a series of in-depth guides aimed at our industry community. Topics included: We published a total of 11 guides last year. View them all here.
