David returned home after his shift on March 8, 2013 and finalized his planned retirement date of July 1, 2013 with his wife Laurie. Five hours later, David suffered a heart attack and spent his last 50 days battling Metastatic Angiosarcoma, an extremely aggressive cancer that attacked his lungs and heart.
