Berwyn boat fire 6-13-11

This evening, the Berwyn Fire Department received a call about a fire in an alley located on the 7000 block of 34th Street. A local resident, Josh Boyajian, who lives in Berwyn, shared his account along with some photos: "When I stepped outside my home, I could immediately see a massive plume of smoke rising into the sky. By the time the Berwyn fire units arrived, they discovered a boat engulfed in flames. It was on a mobile trailer behind someone’s house and was still under construction. The fire was so intense that two lines had to be deployed to combat it. Interestingly, North Riverside provided mutual aid support." Attached are several images captured by Josh Boyajian, offering a closer look at the incident: - In one image, you can clearly see a large plume of smoke visible from blocks away as firefighters rushed to control the situation. - Another photo shows the fully involved boat on the trailer just moments after the first responders arrived. - A third image highlights how quickly the fire spread before firefighters managed to direct water onto it. - Subsequent shots depict the swift action taken by the Berwyn firefighters, who successfully extinguished most of the flames even before the second hose was activated. - Additional pictures showcase the deployment of equipment like hoses from both Berwyn Engine 903 and Berwyn Quint 901, demonstrating the coordinated effort underway. These visuals not only capture the severity of the situation but also illustrate the professionalism and efficiency exhibited by the Berwyn Fire Department during this emergency response.
