Berwyn boat fire 6-13-11
This evening, the Berwyn Fire Department responded to reports of a fire in an alley located on the 7000 block of 34th Street. Josh Boyajian, a resident of Berwyn, shared his observations and some photos with us:
"When I stepped outside my home, I immediately noticed a massive plume of smoke rising above the neighborhood. By the time the Berwyn fire crews arrived, they discovered a boat fully engulfed in flames. It seemed the vessel was still under construction at the time. Two fire hoses were deployed to tackle the blaze. Interestingly, North Riverside sent additional support through auto-aid."

The quick response from the Berwyn Fire Department appears to have minimized damage, though the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
