4-Alarm fire in Rockford, 10-24-20 (more)

I just got back from the scene of a massive fire that broke out at a two-story, vacant building located at 2500 Main Street in Rockford. The structure, which spans over a city block, was already heavily involved when the first responders arrived. It’s an enormous building, and from what I saw, it must have been quite a sight to see it engulfed in flames.
The fire department had their hands full trying to control the situation. There was so much smoke billowing into the sky, making it hard for them to get a handle on things right away. It looked like they were working nonstop to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures. The intensity of the flames was evident even from a distance, and the heat must have been intense given how close we were standing.
Here are some photos I managed to snap before having to step back further for safety reasons:
*First image*: A wide shot of the entire building as it's being consumed by fire. The flames are towering high, and you can see firefighters scattered around, trying to douse the blaze with water.
*Second image*: Closer view of one corner of the building where the fire seems to be most active. You can see the firefighters in action, hoses stretched out and pointed directly at the inferno.
*Third image*: Smoke is everywhere, filling the air so thickly that it almost looks like a foggy morning—but this is no natural phenomenon. It's chaos, and the firefighters are doing their best to bring it under control.
There were a lot more images, but these give you an idea of the scale and severity of the fire. It’s heartbreaking to see such a large building go up in flames, especially if it had once served a purpose in the community.
