On June 2nd, German special chemicals group LANXESS signed a memorandum of understanding to invest 200 million euros in the construction of a Nd-PBR plant at Jurong Island Chemical Park in Singapore. Half-year production, annual production capacity will reach 140,000 tons. LANXESS conducted a detailed feasibility study on the location of the new plant, and finally decided to select Singapore because it had a good supply of raw materials. At present, LANXESS has signed a memorandum of understanding with Singapore Petrochemical Corporation (PCS). PCS will supply butadiene for LANXESS over a long period of time. LANXESS will supply Raffinate II for PCS for a long time. Butadiene is the raw material for Lanxess to produce fluorene-based butadiene rubber, and Raffinate II is one of LANXESS's new butyl rubber plants in Singapore. Tantalum butadiene rubber is superior to many tire rubbers in reducing energy consumption. In addition, it can reduce tire wear and play an important role in improving vehicle safety, environmental protection, and economy. In addition to tires, high-performance butadiene rubber can also be used for the modification of plastics in the production of high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) to improve injection molding processability.
