Kongsberg acquires ship model and simulation center of Norwegian ship simulation and consulting company
It is reported that Kongsberg Maritime, a subsidiary of the Kongsberg Group, has reached an agreement to acquire the Ship Modeling and Simulation Center (SMSC) of the Norwegian Ship Simulation and Consulting Company. The acquisition is expected to be completed in January 2016 and will support Kongsberg's maritime simulation and training business to enhance its market position.
In the merchant, military and offshore sectors, Kongsberg Marine offers a wide range of marine technology and simulation training, which is important for ensuring safety and operational efficiency. Not long ago, Kongsberg Maritime's bridge and mainframe simulators were delivered and installed at a maritime simulation center in France.
It is understood that SMSC was established in 1980. After the acquisition, SMSC will help Kongsberg better provide simulation services, ship models, engineering projects and consulting services for shipyard and offshore customers.
