Eaton will launch a new one-way auxiliary generator

Eaton will launch a new one-way auxiliary generator in the second half of 2012 with a power of 5 kilowatts. This generator can convert high voltage direct current into 115 volts alternating current, broadening its applicability. The new APG module is 25 pounds lighter (11.3 kg) lighter than the older models, making it easier to install.

Gerald DeVito, chief engineer of Eaton Hybrid Power Systems, pointed out that the new APG module will have a soft start function. With this function, the car can easily ride rough roads. The APG generator is a stand-alone system other than a high-voltage battery. It does not need to be supplemented with additional devices such as transformers, resulting in lighter weight and lower cost.

APG generators and high-performance lithium batteries will be introduced in the fourth quarter of 2012. High-performance lithium batteries will be used in the mail delivery business in the third quarter of 2012. In addition to the new lithium battery and APG generators, Eaton is introducing a clutch capable of delivering 860 lb-ft of torque and 300 hp (224 kW). The clutch has been improved and a through-bridge has been adopted to improve the vehicle's power performance while also correspondingly increasing the weight of the vehicle body.

Eaton will launch an improved battery in July 2012. The battery will appear in the aftermarket at a reasonable price. The Eaton hybrid electric system has so far operated over 300 million miles, saving more than 8 million gallons of diesel fuel. Today, more than 6,000 Eaton hybrid systems are widely used in buses, school buses, courier trucks, refrigerated trucks, garbage trucks, utility vehicles, and other commercial applications.
