Basic concept of explosion

Explosion is a very rapid physical and chemical change process within a system. In this process, the internal energy of the system is transformed into mechanical energy and other forms of energy, thereby doing work on the surrounding medium. An important feature of the explosion is that a large amount of energy is rapidly released and rapidly converted in a limited volume, forming a high temperature and high pressure state, causing a sharp pressure jump and subsequent complex motion of the surrounding medium, showing a mechanical destruction effect and emitting a certain sound. According to the nature of the explosion process, the explosion phenomenon can be classified into three categories: physical explosion, chemical explosion and nuclear explosion.
The explosion of explosives is a chemical explosion, and it is the most widely used in mine blasting projects. Explosives must have three elements. That is, the exothermicity of the reaction, the high speed of the reaction, and the formation of a large amount of gaseous products. The exothermic energy provides energy for the explosion process, the high speed is the condition for generating high power, and the generated gaseous product is the working medium for expansion work. These three factors work together and are indispensable.
