Apartment fire in Wheeling, 3-11-23
On Saturday morning, firefighters from Wheeling and Prospect Heights responded to a fire alarm at 375 Plum Creek Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered flames coming from a third-floor balcony on the south side of the building. The incident was quickly upgraded to a working fire, prompting additional units from Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Glenview, Des Plaines, Niles, North Maine FPD, and Northbrook to assist.
Wheeling Truck 24 initiated an exterior attack using a 2½-inch line at ground level, while Engine 23 and Engine 24 made an interior assault to extinguish the fire within the apartment. One resident was safely transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Firefighters worked diligently to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further.
