Winnetka updates their apparatus>
The Winnetka Fire Department, part of MABAS Division 3, has officially put their new quint into service, marking a fresh chapter in the department's visual identity. The 2010 Smeal quint was delivered with a black roof, and the department introduced a brand-new door seal design. This updated look features a gold and black Maltese cross that includes both the Winnetka and Kenilworth names, symbolizing the partnership between the two communities. Engine 28, a 2000 Pierce Saber, also received a black top, the new decal, and fresh striping. Similarly, Ambulance 28 now sports the same modern graphics. However, Engine 28R and Ambulance 28R still maintain the original appearance with the previous door decal.

When Winnetka first received Truck 28 in 1990, the original graphics were much simpler, and the door seal depicted a sun rising over a lake.

Before transitioning to Station 28 as part of MABAS Division 3, the department used unit numbers in the '70s. Truck 70, shown here, was one of Winnetka’s two aerial units before being replaced by Truck 28. They also had a 55-foot Snorkel in the station.

The previous design for Engine 28 included lettering on the rear door listing both Winnetka and Kenilworth. The new door seal keeps those names but provides more space for a clean, eye-catching graphic showing the unit number.

When Engine 28 was purchased, it came with a rising sun door decal, similar to the one seen on the truck above.
