Winnetka updates their apparatus
The Winnetka Fire Department, part of MABAS Division 3, has introduced a fresh look with their new quint. The 2010 Smeal quint was delivered with a black roof and a newly designed door seal that features a gold and black Maltese cross incorporating both the Winnetka and Kenilworth names. This updated design is now on Engine 28, a 2000 Pierce Saber, which also received a black top, the new decal, and fresh striping. Similarly, Ambulance 28 has been given the same modern update. However, Engine 28R and Ambulance 28R still retain their original appearance and older door decal.
This image shows the 2010 Smeal Sirius quint, Truck 28, in its new livery. It's a striking addition to the department’s fleet, reflecting a more modern and unified identity.
This photo captures the retired 1990 Pierce Arrow 75' quint before it was taken out of service. The vehicle had the latest door seal and two-tone striping at the time of its retirement.
Here’s a close-up of Truck 28, highlighting its 1,250-GPM pump and 300-gallon water tank. This equipment made it a reliable unit for responding to a variety of emergencies.
Before the department adopted the current numbering system as part of MABAS Division 3, they operated under different unit numbers. This American LaFrance mid-mount aerial, known as Truck 70, was one of their earlier aerial units, prior to the arrival of the 1990 Pierce in 1990.
Engine 28 now sports a black roof and a triple stripe design, along with the new door seal. This update brings a more professional and cohesive look to the department’s vehicles.
