GM wants to introduce China's light commercial vehicles into India

According to overseas media reports, U.S. auto giant General Motors is working with Chinese partners to conduct in-depth negotiations on the proposal to introduce Chinese-made cars into India. General Motors began negotiations with partners SAIC Motor Corporation and SAIC-GM-Wuling Automotive Co., Ltd. eight months ago to study the possibility of introducing domestically produced light commercial vehicles into the Indian market.

Karl Slym, president of General Motors India, a General Motors India subsidiary, said that the company will soon make a decision on how to advance the plan, and GM and its partners are also considering introducing other models into the Indian market through partnerships. General Motors and the other two companies jointly established a joint venture SAIC-GM-Wuling Automotive Co., Ltd. in China. SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd. sells commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles, including Wuling minibuses, Wuling minivans and the General Motors Chevrolet SPARK minicar.
