Downhole Motor

The downhole motor is a type of volumetric power drilling tool that operates using drilling fluid. It converts the pressure of the fluid into mechanical energy, enabling efficient drilling operations. As the mud is pumped from the surface, it flows through the bypass valve and into the motor. The motor's oil inlet and outlet drive the rotor to rotate around the stator’s axis, transferring rotational speed and torque via the cardan and transmission shafts to the drill bit, thus performing downhole tasks effectively.

Uniform Thickness Design
We have improved the stator shell structure to ensure a thin and uniform elastomer layer. This design leads to shorter length, higher power output, greater pressure drop, lower speed, better cooling efficiency, more uniform thermal expansion, broader application scope, and lighter weight. These features make the motor particularly suitable for ultra-deep wells, directional wells, and high-temperature environments, significantly extending its service life and improving drilling performance.

High-Temperature Oil-Based Mud Compatibility
These motors are designed to operate efficiently in high-temperature environments with oil-based mud systems. The specially formulated stator elastomers maintain excellent tensile and tear strength even under temperatures below 180°C and high-oil conditions. The oil-resistant elastomer with optimal interference offers superior performance in high-temperature and oil-rich mud systems.

Corrosion Resistance
The rotor is coated with a special anti-corrosive material, providing enhanced resistance to corrosion, erosion, and wear. This makes the downhole motor ideal for long-term operation in corrosive fluids, ensuring reliable performance in challenging environments.

Air Drilling Applications
Air drilling is an effective method for protecting oil reservoirs, increasing drilling speed, and reducing drilling cycles while preventing mud loss and wellbore collapse. Air drilling motors are powered by gas or foam, which are compressible fluids that drive the motor and rotate the drill bit through rock formations. These motors require advanced assembly, linear design, and strict operational standards to function reliably in air drilling conditions.
