Wu Yingqiu: Can the car not be "made in China"?

Recently, the controversy surrounding the “Made in the Great Wall of China” has led to controversy. Some people think that this formulation is a bit early. It seems that it is said that the car cannot be made in China at the moment.

In the final analysis, the controversy reflects the recognition of self-owned brand cars. In recent years, Chery, Geely, Great Wall and other independent brand companies have developed rapidly: Chery has built Asia's largest automotive testing and technology center, Geely has successfully acquired Volvo cars, and the Great Wall has continuously expanded overseas markets... These facts have proved that independent brands are The international market has begun to become an indispensable role.

At the same time, we must clearly see that there are indeed low-quality and exemplary models in the self-owned brand enterprises. This has brought damage to the image of self-owned brand cars, which has seriously affected the confidence of consumers and indirectly has caused the problem of self-identity brand cars to remain unresolved. The reasons for the controversy caused by the "China Great Wall Motor Construction" have been affected to a great extent by these negative influences.

At the moment, it takes a lot of courage to say such things as “China’s Great Wall Motors”, but I think the Great Wall did have the same feelings of saying this. I once said that sticking to the technical route and sticking to the road of connotative development will allow Great Wall Motor to stand out from its own brands: adherence to international standards will also enable the Great Wall to go abroad and start the brand of “Chinese car” internationally.

The Great Wall started with pickups and measured itself from the very beginning with international standards. In 1997, the first batch of Great Wall pickups had already been exported to the Middle East.

In the second half of last year, four models of "Hyun", "Cool Bear", "Hover" and "Wind Jun" have successively won the EU's full vehicle type certification. According to my understanding, this is the highest standard of international certification. With this certification, it is possible to sell cars freely within the EU member states. This is the first case of self-owned brand companies. Today, Great Wall Motor has been sold to more than 100 countries and regions in the world, including Australia, Italy, Chile and other mature automotive markets. The Great Wall has made an excellent answer for "Made in China".

What I particularly want to emphasize here is that there is currently a low level of intent in the development of self-owned brand cars. Specifically in:

The first is to “close the door and engage in self-determination” and narrowly look at the development of self-owned brand cars. We believe that independent innovation is the original innovation, and forget that there are integrated innovation, introduction, digestion and absorption, and innovation. In the past, when we criticized everything we did, we came to a complete negation today. Even the "technical threshold" was gone.

The second is keen on low-level, imitation. To copy a generation, imitate a generation, copy everything, copy it all, only to look at the short-term market effects, regardless of long-term development goals. Individual companies do not even even have a “fancy cloth”. What is worrying is that this practice has even been recognized and followed by some companies;

The third is impetuous and exaggerated. Always think of "taking over the curve", be opportunistic, use dry political methods to do their own brand, do not follow the auto industry's own development rules.

Why can't autos be made in China? This sentence has two meanings: As long as more and more self-owned brand companies like the Great Wall adhere to high standards, strict requirements, and farsightedness, the future of the world's cars will certainly be made in China; but if they follow the example of individual companies, To continue playing mock shows and to fool consumers with low quality, then "made in China" can't really do it.
