In addition, there has been a tendency to increase the fuel efficiency and use a low-viscosity ATF (automatic transmission fluid) to reduce the amount of lubricating oil supplied to the entire module. Therefore, it is necessary to solve problems such as improvement of the bearing resistance of the bearing, and it is required to adopt a rotary bearing design. The hub-type needle roller bearing with seal ring developed this time uses a thin-walled design with a seal ring thickness of only 0.85 mm, which reduces the thickness of the bearing section from the original 3 to 3.5 mm to 1.5 mm. By developing a thin seal ring to optimize the clearance between the rotating shaft and the seal ring, it is possible to achieve the control of the amount of oil penetration inside the bearing at the same level as the sliding bearing. In addition, the rotary bearing design is used to improve the sinter resistance and reduce the friction loss in the low rotation area.
NSK's goal is to achieve annual sales of approximately 4 billion yen in 2010 with hub-type needle roller bearings with seals for automatic transmissions.
